If you look at the schematics on the SKB website, you'll find that parts for the Ithaca/SKB 500, 600, and 700, and the SKB 500, 505, 585, 600, 605, 685, 785, and 885 are the same. The 85TSS has a couple of modified parts, but very few. The SKB is a modification of an old Merkel design that hasn't changed much since the 60's. SKB serial numbers. This is a discussion on SKB serial numbers within the All Other Models forums, part of the Shotgun Forums by Model category; I recently purchased a true SKB Model 600, ser # S6609XXX, and I'm interested in finding the year of mfg.
I- The Ithaca, made by SKB is a very well made shotgun. They were imported through the early 70's, then continued to be imported just branded SKB for a few more years. There were 5 or 6 models, 100,150,200,285,385 and 485 are the ones I am familiar with. They all were single trigger, with differences in extractor (100) and ejector (all the rest).
